Abstract

1,226,097. Clamps. BURTON, DELING- POLE & CO. Ltd. 1 July, 1968 [30 June, 1967; 29 Feb., 1968], Nos. 30182/67 and 9757/68. Heading E2B. A scaffold tube coupler comprises a substantially C-shaped body 10, a pair of spaced clamping bolts 20 extending through openings in the arms 12, 13 of the body, one of the arms being deformed inwardly of the body adjacent the clamping bolts, each of the latter having a pressure-applying portion engageable with the outer side of the deformation 23 to bring the deformation into clamping engagement with the adjacent scaffold tube as the clamping bolt is tightened. As shown, each part-circular arm 12, 13 terminates in a flange 12a, 13a to form recesses 18 which are apertured for the clamping bolts 20. The apertures are deformed to provide the deformations 23 which when the clamp is operative, engage the outer surfaces of the tube ends to which the clamp is applied. A locating pin 16 which may be fixed to one arm of the clamp limits outward movement of the arms when the bolts are released. (For Figure see next column)
