A bandage to be worn during exercise &c., to aid slimming is extensible, elastic, and impermeable to air and water, there being a fastening element at one end of the bandage such that the bandage may be secured wound about the body with the bandage exerting a pressure of 0.02 to 0.7 kg/cm 2 on the body surface. As shown, the bandage 1 is of a sulphur-free rubber or a soft elastic polyvinyl material which can be wound under tension around the body in partly super-imposed windings. The free end of the bandage is formed with a fastening device 2 which is releasably secured to a cooperating device (3) on the end of a length of elastic ribbon 4 (see also Figures 3, 4, not shown), the ribbon having further fastening devices (5, 6) whereby it may be wound around the chest and secured upon itself. The fastening devices may comprise snap fasteners, press buttons, hooks and eyes, adhesive surfaces, or hook members and cooperating fibrous material. The bandage may be smooth on its inner surface to contact the body and rough on the outer surface, or vice versa, or both surfaces may be either smooth or rough. In an embodiment (Figures 5, 6, not shown) the bandage is provided with fastening devices (8,9) at its two ends, on opposite sides, and is used, without the ribbon 4, about an arm or thigh.
