Abstract

122,432. Vickers, Ltd., and Francis, C. E. Dec. 19, 1917. Sewing - machines; lock. - stitching by hooks. -Relates to sewing-machines of the kind in which the under-thread is carried by a spool within a bobbincase situated in a looptaker. The invention is described as applied to a bobbin-case of the form described in Specification 103,734. The part g is provided with a passage h, which may be tubular or open at the side, and through which the thread is led from the usual aperture e in the bobbin-case to the tension-device. The part of the roof of the passage near the aperture e is raised as shown at h<1> to allow a limited amount of ballooning of the thread outwardly and minimize the same tendency sideways through the opening. A slot i is provided in the periphery of the bobbin-case extending forwardly from the aperture e into the passage h and at an angle to the usual threading slot.
