Abstract
1,223,493. Aminoguanidine derivative. AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP. 11 Oct., 1968, No. 39074/70. Divided out of 1,223,491. Addition to 1,223,491. Heading C2C. The invention comprises 2-chloro-6-fluorobenzylideneaminoguanidine (I), its acid addition salts (e.g. with HCl, HBr, H 2 SO 4 , HNO 3 , H 3 PO 4 , or with lactic, fumaric, tartaric, citric, formic, acetic, glycolic, succinic, gluconic, glutaric, maleic or trifluoroacetic acids), and processes for making it by (a) reacting 2-chloro-6-fluorobenzaldehyde (II) with aminoguanidine or its acid addition salt, (b) heating II-thiosemicarbazone with NH 3 , and (c) reacting II-hydrazone with CNNH 2 . The preparation of I-HNO 3 salt by method (a) is exemplified. Pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions comprise I, which has hypotensive and antihypertensive activity, in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration.
