Abstract
1,223,062. N - Phenoxyacetyl - aspartic and - glutamic acids. SERDEX-SOC. D'ETUDES DE RECHERCHES DE DIFFUSION ET D'EXPLOITATION. 29 April, 1969 [8 May, 1968], No. 21700/69. Heading C2C. Novel N-phenoxyacetyl-aspartic and -glutamic acids of the general formula wherein X is a halogen atom or an alkoxy radical and n is 1 or 2, and salts thereof are prepared by condensation of a phenoxyacetyl halide of the general formula wherein Y is a halogen atom, with aspartic or glutamic acid, followed optionally by salification. p-Chlorophenoxyacetyl chloride is prepared by treatment of p-chlorophenoxyacetic acid with thionyl chloride. Pharmaceutical compositions having psychostimulant activity comprise, as active ingredient, an N-phenoxy-acetyl-aspartic or -glutamic acid of the first general formula above or a non-toxic salt thereof, in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle or excipient, and may be administered orally.
