Abstract

1,222,758. Bleaching keratinous fibres. FMC CORP. 30 May, 1969[31 May, 1968; 12 Nov., 1968], No. 27515/69. Heading D1P A bleaching composition for human hair or other keratinous fibres contains hydrogen peroxide (or hydrogen peroxide generating compounds e.g. alkali metal percarbonate or perborate) ammonium or alkali metal persulphate and ammonium or alkali metal peroxydiphosphate. It may also contain a water soluble thickener, wetting agents, solvents and buffering agents. The keratinous fibres are bleached by applying an aqueous solution of the composition at 50 to 100‹F and maintaining its pH within the range of 7 to 9.3. The persulphate may be added to the peroxide just before bleaching and then mixed with the diphosphate.
