Abstract

1417356 Germicidal bleach composition AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 8 Feb 1974 [21 March 1973] 5991/74 Heading A5E [Also in Divisions C2 and D1] A percompound activator in a germicidal bleach composition is an imino diacetonitrile derivative of general formula wherein A is selected from optionally substituted carbocyclic aroyl, the residue of a heterocyclic carboxylic acid halide, e.g. furoyl, thenoyl or picolinoyl, (C 1 -C 7 ) alkanoyl and a 4, 6-diamino-s-triazine group. The activator:percompound ratio may be from 1:1 to 1.10 molar, preferably 1:1.1. The percompound is preferably sodium perborate or sodium percarbonate. The composition may further contain a detergent and may be used for treating cotton fabrics, human and animal hair, groundwood pulp and for the control of microbial growth, e.g. in water.
