Abstract

1,219,365. Containers. ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd. 13 Feb., 1969 [15 Feb., 1968], No. 7571/68. Heading B8P. A packaging container erected from a single blank (Fig. 1, not shown) of rigid but foldable material includes at one end a compartment whose interior connects with the main space of the container as by a cut out 21. The inner and outer walls of the compartment are constituted by end panels 20, 24, 27, 29 which are each hinged to a different wall of the container, the inner wall being constituted by an end panel 20 which is stepped inwardly from the adjacent end plane of the container, and has peripheral wall portions 22, 23 which are folded to lie flat against the adjacent walls of the container. In the construction shown the end panels 27, 29 are formed with marginal strips which space the panels 27, 29 from the inner wall. A pipe connected to a bag (Fig. 5, not shown) is supported by the edges of the cut out 21 and a tip associated with the pipe is accessible through a tear off portion 31 in the panel 29 and a cut out 25 in the panel 24. The free ends of two of the side walls are stapled together and the inner ends of the staples 35 are covered by a strip hinged to one of the two side walls. The other end of the container comprises two end panels hinged to opposite walls, one of the panels having a slot (Figs. 1, 2, not shown). Tongues of two opposed end flaps pass through the slot and are held against the inner surface of the slotted panel by the unslotted panel (Fig. 4, not shown). A closure for this end of the container comprising three panels only is disclosed.
