Abstract

1,218,800. Pedal arrangements in vehicles. COVENTRY CLIMAX ENGINES Ltd. 3 Nov., 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 53109/68. Heading B7H. The forward and reverse pedals 1, 3 of an electrically driven vehicle are separately pivotally mounted about a common axis, the one on a shaft 2 coupled to a sleeve 6 carrying a lug 12 which when actuated permits operation of switch 15 determining the forward motion of the vehicle, and the other on a sleeve 4 rotatable about the shaft 2 and carrying a lug 8 which when actuated permits operation of the switch 11 determining the reverse motion of the vehicle. Further depression of either pedal causes an arm 16 or 18 on the associated sleeve 4, 6 to pivot a segment gear 17 which in turn rotates gear 19, fork 21 coupled thereto, pin 22, arm 23 and shaft 24 of a potentiometer controlling the speed of the vehicle in either direction. Springs 25 ... 27 return the mechanism to their initial setting upon the pedals being released.
