[Also in Division C7] A method of cleaning an external thread of a screw, for example the screw of a G-clamp 1 which has become clogged with concrete by use on a building site, the screw being carried in an internally-threaded mounting 3, comprises inserting into the groove of the thread a cleaning tool 12 which is mounted on a support 4 fixed relative to the mounting and then rotating the screw. The tool 12 is in the form of a lathe cutting tool and is clamped by bolts 13 to the support 4 which is welded to one of a pair of clamping plates 5, 6 held by bolts 7 and nuts 20 to one of the limbs of the G-clamp. One of the plates is formed with a recess which is wider than and accommodates the limb, screws in tapped holes 16 in the ends of the plate providing for lateral adjustment of the device on the limb so that the tool engages the groove of the screw which is then rotated by a tommybar in the end of the screw.
