Abstract

1,216,089. Electrostatic charging device. W. ZINDLER [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER K. G. ]. Dec.21, 1967 [Dec.27, 1966], No.58005/67. Heading G2H. A charging devices Fig. 3, for an electrostatic copier comprises an insulating frame 4, having mountings 7, 8 at its ends, mounting 7 containing a double acting mechanism clamping the ends of a loop corona wire 43,44 against flanks 13,14 on projections 11, 12 on side walls 5, 6 of frame 4, and mounting 8 containing a spring loaded roller 38 around which the corona wire loop passes. Frame 8 is mounted in end walls 1, 2 and closed by a conducting U shaped shell 54, Fig. 1 (not shown) side walls 52, 53, Fig. 2 (not shown) of which engage in grooves 50, 51 in frame 4. Roller 38 has a cylindrical section 39, Fig. 1 (not shown) and adjacent thereto a conical section (80) and the roller is mounted on a pivot pin (37) on a baseplate (33) of housing 8. A contact plate 62 inside wall 2 urged by a spring loaded pressure member 68 against a contact strip 25 on flank 14. A similar charging device may be mounted below a paper guide in an electrostatic copier.
