Abstract

1,214,673. Spring door closer with check device. JOSIAH PARKES & SONS Ltd. 4 March, 1969 [6 March, 1968], No. 10806/68. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F2] A spring door closer with hydraulic piston- and cylinder check means has provision for relieving excess pressure which may build up inside the cylinder at high temperatures. Thus within the cylinder is provided a readily deformable tubular member 29 made e.g. of polyethylene, having an open end 32 which is secured to and closed by part of the piston and cylinder assembly e.g. a spigot on the piston, and a closed end 30, thereby forming an air (or other gas) filled chamber sealed from the hydraulic fluid which substantially fills the rest of the cylinder. The tubular member 29 may have an eccentric bore to facilitate its collapse under pressure. The spigot may be hollow, the hollow communicating with the interior of the tubular member to provide a larger sealed gas-filled chamber.
