Abstract
1,209,738. Protective arrangements. ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN G.m.b.H. 22 April, 1969 [27 April, 1968; 8 Nov., 1968], No. 20619/69. Heading H2K. A protective arrangement comprises an overload-responsive putton-button operated circuitbreaker 7 with its release device 9 in series with the circuit-breaker contacts 6, a normallyconducting power transistor 10 with its emitter/ collector circuit in parallel with the release device 9 and control means for rendering the transistor non-conducting when the current in the protected circuit exceeds a predetermined amount. The control means may comprise a diode 13 which conducts when the voltage drop across a control resistor 8 due to the circuit current reaches a predetermined level. The diode 13 may be a Zener diode or be replaced by a control transistor, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), or by two control transistors, Fig. 4 (not shown). The device 9 may be an electromagnetic release and the resistor 8 a heating winding for a bimetallic release device. Alternatively the device 9 may be a heating winding for a bimetallic release constituting the resistor 8. Reference is made to other combinations of releasing devices.
