Headings F1A, F1B and F1 N. In a reciprocating machine comprising a cylindrical rotor 1, with a plurality of co-planar cylinders 4 having double-headed pistons 5, rotatable in a stator 2, the pistons 5 are connected to respective crank-pins 6 of a crank-shaft 7 having its axis eccentric to the rotor axis. In the fluid-pressure motor shown, fluid enters through port 32 and exhausts through port 33. The stator sealing bridges 36 and 37 may have a width greater than the cylinder diameters and be arranged to open a cylinder to the inlet and outlet ports in advance of top dead centre of the respective piston. In a compressor, Fig.3 (not shown), the bridge between the outlet port (33) and the inlet port (32) in the direction of rotor rotation extends over an arc of greater than 90 degrees.
