Abstract

1,208,110. Vehicle lamps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 1 Feb., 1968 [6 Feb., 1967], No. 5565/67. Heading F4R. A vehicle lamp comprises a dish-shaped reflector having flat parallel upper and lower portions 14, 15 connected by a paraboloidal portion 16, a bulb support 17 mounted on the portion 16, and a light shield 19 carried by a bracket 18 secured to the portion 14, the shield being so shaped that it prevents light emitted by a tungsten-halogen bulb (not shown) fitted in the support 17 from reaching the flat portions 14, 15 of the reflector and also prevents light from leaving the lamp without first being reflected by the paraboloidal portion 16. The lamp is intended for use with a bulb having an integral fly lead (23, Fig. 4, not shown) coated with a heat resistant insulating material, the return lead being an insulated copper braid (24) which is secured to the support 17 and serves to conduct heat away from the support. The leads are provided at their free ends with respective male or female connectors of different sizes which are adapted to mate with corresponding connectors on an external supply lead. The connectors are clamped in an insulating housing (25) secured to the lamp casing (11).
