Abstract

1,180,026. Lamp holders. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 2 June, 1967 [13 June, 1966], No. 26241/66. Heading H2E. [Also in Division F4] In a vehicle lamp comprising a reflector 11, a lens 13 and a bulb-holder 15, the bulb 23 is held in an orifice in a heat sink 26 which is inserted into the bulb-holder 15, contact being made to the bulb by contact arms 38, 39 which pass through an insulating closure 37 for the rear of the lamp body 35, the arm 38 making contact with the base contact of the bulb and the arm 39 which is bifurcated making contact with the heat sink. The bulb-holder 15 comprises a front shield 16 making light which would otherwise issue directly from the bulb, and an annular rear portion 17 which is joined to the shield by arms 18, and is secured to the reflector by means of a ring 21 having tags which pass through slots in the flange of portion 17 and in a central hole in the reflector and are then bent over to secure the holder and reflector together. Two of the tags 22 are provided for gripping and retaining the heat sink 26 which is made of conducting material having a central hole for the bulb and a pair of deep arcuate grooves to enhance the cooling effect.
