1,207,549. Effect yarn. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVANOZ. 23 Dec, 1968 [28 Dec., 1967; 22 Nov., 1968 (2)], No. 61184/68. Headings DID and D1W. [Also in Division F2] An effect yarn is made by wrapping an effect yarn 6 around a core yarn 1 to form an intermediate yarn assembly, wrapping a binding thread 11 therearound, and winding the finished yarn 13 at constant velocity. The velocity of the intermediate yarn can be varied by winding it on a storage device 17 which permits continuous variation in the amount of yarn stored. This variation can be achieved inter alia by rotation of a yarn guide around a roller or sets of rollers over which the yarn passes (Figs. 2 to 7 not shown). The rate of rotation of this yarn guide may be controlled by a programming device acting on clutches and a variable speed motor (Figs. 8 and 9 not shown).
