Abstract

1,205,434. Unwinding strip. CLARK'S PRESS EQUIPMENT Ltd. 26 April, 1968 [8 May, 1967; 25 Jan., 1968], Nos. 21209/67 and 3986/68. Heading B3E. A device for dispensing strip material is operated by the intermittent energy of a strip feeder to a machine tool such as a punch press, the device converting said energy into a steady pull on the strip resulting in substantially continuous withdrawal of the strip from the reel. The device is preferably mounted on a stock reel A having grooves 42, 43 for the forks of a fork lift truck which deposits a coil of strip B thereon and comprises a support 1 carrying at least two rollers over which the strip is drawn and means 22 for loading the rollers away from each other so that the strip while being drawn over the rollers urges them towards each other against said loading, thereby tensioning the Strip so that the intermittent movement is converted into a steady pull. The means 22 comprises a cylinder having slots 31 through which pass levers 29 and 30 which carry the rollers, the said levers being pivotably secured at 27 and 28 to member 23, a spring (32) (Fig. 2, not shown) inside the cylinder 22 urges the levers apart and two smaller springs 33 at each end of the cylinder are adjustable by means of screws (36), (36A) to bias the levers towards each other.
