Abstract

Articles stacked on pallets are secured by encircling them with shrink wrapping material, either in web form or as a bag drawn down over them, and then heat-shrinking the material. The material embraces the pallet platform so joining the load to it. One or more webs may be joined to surround the load and project above and below it. Loaded pallets advancing on a conveyer A are embraced by two webs 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> moving in vertical planes, the webs being sealed and severed by means 9-12. The webs are joined to form a curtain in front of the loads in the normal manner. A retractable stop 15 positions the load being wrapped. The wrapped loads then pass on to heat shrinking means (not described).
