A staircase comprises a series of units 1, 2 secured together at 12, each unit comprising a support frame having walls 7, 8, 9, 10 and a tread 3. The frames may be continuous tubular sections or spaced apart tubular sections at opposite ends of the tread, connected by a cross member.
