Abstract

1,201,750. Layered panels. JOHN LAING RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 1 Sept., 1967, No. 6713/70. Divided out of 1,200,301. Headings B5A and B5N. A sandwich structure comprising a core 1 formed from a mixture of pulverized fuel ash and a resin and outer layers 2 and 3 each of a material different from that of the core may be made by coating the face of a mould with a polyester resin and allowing the resin to partially cure, placing in the mould a facing layer of a material different from that of the core but impregnated with a resin, spreading over the facing layer the core material in the form of pulverized fuel ash, placing a second facing layer on to the core material and curing the structure so formed. In an alternative embodiment, the core material which may contain chalk powder or silica flour may be moulded prior to application of the outer layers.
