Abstract

Polyester resins are increased in fire resistance by incorporating before curing a proportion of potash alum or ammonium alum. Other ingredients mentioned are curing agents, fire resistance additives, promoters, reinforcing agents (e.g. glass fibre), plasticizers, pigments, granular fillers (e.g. brick dust, stone dust and sand) and thixotropic agents. The resin composition may be subjected to contact moulding to produce sheet material used in the production of, e.g., laminates (see Division B5).
