Abstract

1,201,137. Heating liquids in bulk. STREBELWERK A.G. 4 Sept., 1968 [14 March, 1968], No. 42136/68. Heading F4S. A system of axially extending pipes 6, 7 interconnected by end chambers 8, in series and/or parallel, extend through a hot water jacket formed around a casing 2, and water to be heated is circulated through the pipes and thereafter passes into the casing. In a modification the pipe system may comprise two flow paths for the water being heated, one flow path being connected not to the casing interior, but directly to a heated water outlet. As shown, the end chambers 8 interconnecting the tubes are formed in end covers 3 and 4 (see Figs. 3 and 4). Water to be heated enters the pipe system via an inlet pipe 12 and inlet chamber 9, and after being heated in the pipes enters the casing through an inlet 13 in the end cover 3. Hot water is withdrawn from the casing through an outlet 13 in the end cover 4, outlet chamber 11 and outlet pipe 14, and may be continuously recirculated through an external line (not shown) and back to the casing via an inlet 21. The heating water is supplied to the jacket through an inlet 17 formed in a pedestal member 16 and after circulating through the jacket is discharged at 19. A drain connection 18 is also provided in the pedestal. 22 and 23 are means in the cover 3 for inserting a thermometer and thermostat.
