Abstract
1,200,094. Electrostatographic process. RANK XEROX Ltd. Oct.24, 1967 [Oct. 31, 1966], No.48215/67. Heading G2H. Images formed on a member comprising a conductive substrate bearing a softenable layer having therein or thereon a particulate or fracturable material, which may be photo-conductive, by forming an electrostatic charge image and developing with a solvent which softens the softenable material so that the material deposits imagewise on the substrate and the softenable material is removed (cf. Specification 1, 152, 365), are fixed by chemically reacting the material and the substrate. Selenium and selenium alloy images may be fixed to supports having a metal surface by heating; the image may be treated with Hg, halogen or hexylamine vapour before fixing to cause the selenium to crystallize thus preventing loss of colour.
