Abstract

1,199,675. Extruding dyestuffs. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 May, 1969 [19 July, 1968], No. 34540/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C4] To reduce the dust hazards of water-soluble dyestuffs, an aqueous paste thereof is extruded through one or more orifices, the extrudate being either dried and broken into pellets or vice versa. The drying may be effected in vacuo and the extrudate may be collected on a moving band which passes through a hot-air drier. In an example, a dyestuff paste comprising 5 parts by weight of the dyestuff with an equal weight of water is extruded on to a plate which is placed in an oven at 60‹ C. for 30 min. After drying, the plate is inverted and tapped, thereby removing the dyestuff which simultaneously breaks into lengths of 10-15 mm.
