Abstract

1,199,067. Plate-type heat exchangers. ROSENBLADS PATENTER A.B. 24 Nov., 1967, No. 53493/67. Heading F4S. In a plate-type heat-exchanger assembly comprising a plurality of parallel plates 1 spaced apart by studs 2 and sealed around their periphery by gaskets 3, 4 to define two sets of alternate fluid interspaces a, b, the two heatexchange fluids are lead into and out of the interspaces a, b, respectively, through two series 5a, 5b of aligned apertures 6 which together with an associated sealing arrangement comprising insert rings 8, 9, and 8a, arranged as shown, define inlet and outlet passages for the two fluids. The alternate insert rings 8a of the arrangement are provided with radial holes 10 to communicate with said respective interspaces. Each inlet and outlet arrangement is sealingly clamped between a washer 15 and a fluid connecting pipe 7 by a bolt 16. The plate assembly is clamped through an end-plate 11 and the flange 12 of an end-plate 13 by means of bolts 14. Further sealing pressure is applied through screws 18 which bear against a plate 17. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 4-6, not shown) the plates are recessed so as to simplify the sealing arrangement required. The gasket insert rings 3, 4 and 8, 9 are replaced by single thin gasket rings (4) and (9) respectively.
