Abstract

1,197,801. Electro-photographic apparatus. RICOH K. K. Sept.13, 1967 [Sept. 23, 1966], No.41755/67. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic apparatus comprises a paper feeding member for conveying a copy sheet from a stack 2 along a path past an electrostatic charging device 11, an exposure device 13 and a developing device. The feeding member includes a pivotal member 4 which engages the top sheet of the stack inverts the sheet beneath a suction member 7 which is reciprocated along the required path. The member 7 is supported on guide bars (33a, 33b) Fig. 2 (not shown) for reciprocation by a chain (35) between limit switches (not shown). A pulley (40) drives a spindle (4a) to actuate the member 4 Fig.1 through 180 degrees to invert the sheets. An inlet valve Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) controls vacuum produced at the members 4 and 7 Fig.1. The developing device comprises a cylinder 18 carrying a bar magnet 19 which forms a developer 17, consisting of toner and iron powder, into a magnetic brush. A agitating roller 21 agitates the developer 17 while a supply roller 26 controls the supply of developer from tank 25. Developed sheets on a pivoted screen 29 are fixed by an infrared lamp 30 with a reflector 31.
