1282351 Electro-photographic copiers RICOH K K 15 April 1970 [25 April 1969] 17906/70 Heading G2H An original on a reciprocating carriage 2 is copied on a sheet 14 fed from a stack 4. In operation a cam 19 moves a roller 15 into and out of engagement with the stack to feed sheets. A first sheet fed by roller 15 and then rollers 25, 26 triggers a switch arm 30 which energizes charging devices 27, 28, a lamp 53 and a clutch (not shown) which connects a shaft 55 to a drive sprocket (67), Fig. 12 (not shown). A pin 55a, Fig. 6, on shaft 55 engages a projection 56b, after lost motion, to drive a pulley 56 and thus, via a wire 57, to reciprocate carriage 2 which is released from a catch 61; the lost motion ensuring registration of the original with the copy sheet. The original is line-by-line copied on to the sheet via a lens 54 and mirrors 52a, 52b, 54a. The trailing edge of the copy sheet triggers a switch arm 39 which de-energizes chargers 27, 28 and lamp 53, and connects shaft 55 to a drive sprocket (68), (Fig. 12) which reverses the direction of carriage 2. The copy sheet is guided at 40a, b, c into developer 40, past a hot air fixer 44 and out of a slot 8. On its return, carriage 2 triggers a switch lever 81 to de-energize the carriage drive. Brakes, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown) may be provided for the carriage.
