Abstract
1,197,736. Small arm barrel. HECKLER & KOCH G.m.b.H. 9 Oct., 1967 [19 Oct. 1966], No. 46111/67. Heading F3C. A barrel particularly for small arms has a rifled bore of multisided form, comprising at least four concave lands and intervening concave grooves which merge one into the other around the bore of the barrel without sudden change of direction. The rifled barrel 1 has a cross-section deviating from the circular form 2 by being flattened at four points 3. The maximum radius R is greater than, and the radius r is less than that of the bullet employed; the cross-section of the barrel being the same as that of the bullet.
