Abstract

1,195,614. Hopper windows. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON Ltd. 5 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 24112/68. Heading E1J. [Also in Division F4] A hopper type window has a spring urged link at each of its two side edges connecting the movable panel with the fixed frame, the links passing through a dead-centre position as the panel is opened or closed. The force of the spring, which can be pre-set, presses the panel against sealing strips when the panel is closed and prevents it from rattling when open. The link 10 is pivoted at 11 to the side frame of the ventilator and' has a pin 13 engaging a nylon block 12 sliding in a side channel of the panel. The block 12 is urged upwardly by a spring 17 bearing at its lower end against a fixed block 16. As the window is opened or shut the block 12 is moved downwardly by the pin 13 and compresses as the spring until the dead centre position is reached after which the spring expands and holds the window open or shut. Spacer washers 18 and nylon buffers 19 are provided.
