Abstract

1,194,805. Coil formers. OSAKA ONKYO K.K. 19 Jan., 1968 [19 Jan., 1967], No. 3118/68. Heading B8M. A bobbin for a moving coil comprises an external paper tape cylinder 33 helically wound with abutting edges 34, the paper cylinder 33 being secured to the outer surface of a cylinder of metal tape 31 also helically wound with abutting edges, the two cylinders being so disposed that the abutting edges of the paper tape are not coextensive with the abutting edges of the metal tape. In a preferred embodiment a further cylinder of helically wound paper tape is disposed within the cylinder of metal tape. The metal tape may be wound in the same direction with the same pitch as the paper tape or may be wound in the opposite direction. Preferred materials for the metal tape are aluminium or copper foil. The bobbin is preferably made as a long tube on a mandrel and appropriate lengths are cut therefrom. The coil is suitable for use in electrodynamic apparatus e.g. microphones or loud-speakers.
