Abstract

1,193,737. Plastics weather strip. SOHLEGEL MFG. CO. 14 Aug., 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 38920/68, Heading E1J. A weather strip comprises an extruded support strip of plastics material e.g. polyalomer, having a base portion 11 Fig. 2 29 Fig. 6, for securing to a member, e.g. the jamb 14 or 27, and a spring arm portion 10 adapted when the base portion 11, 29 is mounted on the jamb 14, 27, to extend obliquely away from the jamb, the outward facing surface of the spring arm being provided with pile material 20 e.g. polypropylene, extending along the free end portion of the spring arm for resilient compressive or brushing engagement with the wing 15, 30 and shown, as a pivoting wing but the invention is equally applicable to sliding wings (see Fig. 4), various forms of strip are shown. The pile material may be tufted or woven into a backing fabric 21 of e.g. polypropylene, compatible for fusion or adhesion to the polyalomer strip. Alternatively the pile may be flocked on to the strip.
