Abstract
1,192,813. Polyolefin compositions. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. 6 Oct., 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 45793/67. Heading C3P. Compositions for the production of selfextinguishing mouldings comprise a poly-olefin and (a) 2 to 20 weight per cent of a compound which contains in the same molecule bromine in aromatic combination and bromine in aliphatic combination and (b) 2 to 9 weight per cent of antimony trioxide, both based on the polyolefin. Specified polyolefins are polyethylene, polypropylene and polybutenes. Many suitable bromine compounds are listed and examples describe compositions comprising polypropylene, antimony trioxide and (1) 2,4,6- tribromophenyl - α,# - dibromoethyl ether and (2) 2,2 - bis - [4 - α,# - dibromobutyryloxy - 3,5- dibromophenyl) propane; polybutene-1, antimony trioxide and (3) 2,2-bis-(4-#,γ-dibromopropoxy-3,5-dibromophenyl) propane and (4) 2,4,6 - tribromophenyl - α,# - dibromobutyrate; and polyethylene, antimony trioxide and 2,2- bis - (4 - α,# - dibromobutyryloxy - 3,5 - dibromophenyl) propane.
