Abstract

1,192,027. Cylinders of two-stroke engines. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A. G. Oct. 20, 1967 [Dec. 13, 1966], No.47958/67. Heading F1B. Bars 4 sub-dividing a piston-controlled exhaust port 2 are provided with a coolant duct 5 so shaped that the wall thickness of the bar at the corners 7 of the piston-running surface 9, Fig. 5, of the bar is the same as the wall thickness at a central point of the surface 9. The duct may be trapezoidal in shape, Fig. 1, so that the wall thickness at each corner of the bar is the same as at the mid points of the four sides of the bar. Alternatively the duct 5 may be approximately rectangular, Fig. 5, with only the corners 10 adjacent the piston running surface 9 pushed out into the corners 7 of the surface 9. The bars 4 may also sub-divide the inlet ports 3, Fig. 2, the coolant duct 5 having a circular cross-section 11 in this region.
