Abstract

1,185,459. Reactor pressure vessels. STONE & WEBSTER ENG. CORP. 10 Feb., 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 7084/69. Heading GEC. A pressurized water nuclear reactor is contained within a reinforced concrete vessel together with steam generators and a pressure suppression pool. The reactor 31 is supported in the compartment 24 of the structure 20, which is separated from the inner surface of the containment vessel 10 by the annular space 21. The lower chamber 26 contains the pressure suppression water pool 34. With a leakage in the primary coolant system, the space under dome 11, and the space 21, fill with steam which enters the lower chamber through the openings 35 and the conduits 37.
