Abstract
1,183,532. Electrophotographic layer. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. 26 April, 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 19273/67. Heading H1K. [Also in Division G2] An electrophotographic layer comprises a photoconductive substance, an insulating filmforming substance and a dye which is soluble in a solvent which is a non-solvent for both of said substances, the dye being incorporated in a form capable of being transferred to a receiving sheet which carries the solvent. The photoconductor is preferably ZnO and the insulating substance a silicone resin. A support for the layer may be cloth, metal foil, plastics sheet or paper subbed with copoly maleic anhydride-vinyl acetate or epoxy ester resin. Polyvinyl acetate or styrenated alkyd resin may also be incorporated in the photoconductive layer. The soluble dye may be Acid Blue 9, Acid Red 1, Tartrazine Acid Yellow 23, Acid Violet 6 or Solvent Red 24, other suitable dyes also being listed. The dye may be concentrated at the surface or may lie beneath a porous electrophotographic layer. A sensitizing dye for the photoconductor may also be incorporated. Three electrophotographic layers are used for full-colour reproduction utilizing transferred primary images (see Divisions G2-G3).
