1,181,861. Processing spent nuclear fuel. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 July, 1967 [5 July, 1966; 14 Oct., 1966], No. 30681/67. Heading G6R. [Also in Division C1] Pyrographite envelopes are removed from spent nuclear fuel particles by contacting at 2000‹ C. or above with a gas containing carbon, sulphur (or selenium), and optionally oxygen and then contacting the gas with a substrate, at 1700-3200‹ C. and at 100‹ C. or more below the gas temperature, to deposit the carbon which has been removed.
