Abstract

1,181,230. Brushes. J. M. MORRIS and R. J. GOUDGE. 10 Jan., 1968 [22 Dec., 1966], No. 57503/66. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B4] A pad, intended for use as a disposable paint brush, is releasably attachable to a handle, by means of an intermediate member, to which it is permanently secured. A nylon plate 31a carries a foamed polyester pad, having a mohair paint applying surface. The plate 31a is secured to the nylon handle 34a, by sliding its bevelled edges between corresponding grooves in the handle walls 48. Ridges coact with the wall 46 to retain the plate 37a in its assembled position. In use, guard 36a prevents an adjacent surface from receiving paint. A handle in the form of an inverted T may be connected, to the intermediate plate, by spigot and socket couplings (16, 15, Fig. 1, not shown). Alternative materials for the nylon parts are polypropylene or p.v.c. The paint applying surface may be of cotton or of a mixture of mohair and cotton and the pad may alternatively be of foamed polyether.
