Abstract

1,181,222. Spectacle frames. F.O. WHEWAY. May 22, 1967 [May 31, 1966], No.24088/66. Heading G2J. A spectacle frame hinge part comprises a body member 12 adapted to fit into a blind hole 22 formed in a spectacle frame, the body member 12 having a skirt 18 at one end divided by a plurality (e.g. two) of longitudinal divisions and a through-going bore 19 which tapers in at least part of the skirt portion towards the free end thereof, together with a pin 21 which is pushed through the bore 19 and engages the tapered portion of the skirt so as to spread the skirt into gripping engagement with the wall of the blind hole 19. The member 12 carries lugs 14 for attachment to a side arm of the spectacle frame. In Fig. 1, the member 12 is circular in cross-section. In a second embodiment the member 12 includes two rectangular skirts, each skirt having two longitudinal divisions.
