1,180,086. Weather-resistant pesticidal granules/pellets. B.P. CHEMICALS (U.K.) Ltd. 8 July, 1968 [12 Aug., 1967], No. 37142/67. Heading A5E. A pesticidal composition in granule or pellet form comprises a toxic agent (e.g. metaldehyde) and an insoluble gel formed by reaction of a water-soluble polycarboxylic acid of high molecular weight (or derivative thereof) with a metal compound which will form an insoluble gel therewith. The gel may be derived from alginic acid, sodium alginate, casein, sodium caseinate, carboxymethyl cellulose, polyacrylic acid, or a vinyl acetate/acrylic acid copolymer; and compounds of Ca, Al, Cr, Cu or Fe<SP>+++</SP>. Optional ingredients include baits such as bran, cereal offal; binders such as gum arabic and starch; sequestering/precipitating agents such as phosphoric acid, soluble phosphate, a carbonate, or ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid; and fungicides such as tributyl tin oxide or triphenyl tin oxide.
