In an envelope blank 1 comprising a main part 2 with a sealing flap 4 and side flaps 8, 10, foldable across part 2 along lines 7, 9 and a bottom flap 6 which is narrower than part 2 and has side strips 12, 14 separable from it by lines of perforations 11, 13 each side flap 8, 10 has a portion 17 of its edge which is parallel to the line 5 separating flap 6 from part 2 and extends in each case inwards to a point 176 where a straight line joining it to the junction 22 of line 5 with line 7 or 9 makes an angle a of 20-60 degrees with the line 7 or 9. Points 176 has a 10-50 mm. offset d from an extension of line 5 and portion 17 is 5-30 mm. long, with its outer end 17a at a distance from line 7 or 9 which is at least 10 mm. greater than the width b of side strip 14 and its inner end 17b at a distance from line 7 or 9 which is at least 5 mm. greater than width b. The edges of the side flaps 8, 10 may follow the lines 17b to 22, or may follow a concave curve.
