Abstract
1,177,612. Centrifugal and axial-flow fans. L. BAUMANN. Jan.3, 1967 [Jan.6, 1966; Nov.30, 1966], No.219/67. Heading F1C. [Also in Division F4] A ventilating fan unit, insertable into a partition or window, provides non-interfering streams of air simultaneously in both directions through the partition. In the embodiment shown two sets of radial fan blading 16 and 17 encased by half shells 10 and 11 propel air through apertures 23 in an annular disc 18 in register with corresponding openings in a rotatable disc 26, forming a valve. The air streams are kept distinct by means of webs (27 and 28, not shown) normal to the plane of the drawing, connecting the onside walls of the half shells to recesses 12 and 13. Modifications include: using pairs of blading of axial type; using an iris diaphragm instead of the discs 18, 26; and providing humidifying, azonizing, heating and filtering means for the air-flow.
