Abstract
1,177,072. Control of D.C. motors. CABLEFORM Ltd. 24 Dot 1967 [26 July, 1966], No.33673/66. Heading H2J. In a system wherein the speed of a motor 20 is controlled by an accelerator which varies the duty factor of a thyristor 12 in the supply circuit, direction is selected by relays 3, 4 which can be energized on the one hand through a manual preselector switch 50 but not through contacts 46/1 associated with the accelerator or on the other hand through a holding circuit including the latter but not the former. Thus, direction can be selected or changed only when the accelerator is at zero speed position. The thyristor circuit is of the type having a commutating thyristor and capacitor which is charged through an inductor during " on " periods. The direction relays 3, 4 switch the motor field 21 and their circuit includes a seat switch 49 and mechanical brake switch 220. A relay 2 controlling the charging of the commutating capacitor is energized whenever a direction relay is energized, and a " driving relay " 10 which is energized when accelerator contacts 46/1 close, closes only after a delay (by capacitor 226) so that a relay 6 controlling the triggering circuit cannot close before the direction relays. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the charging circuit for the commutating capacitor is modified and the relay 2 omitted. Other features of the system, including dynamic braking, are as described in Specification 1,177,071.
