Abstract

1,177,023. Catamaran cargo vessel. INTERNAVIA A.B. 8 April, 1968 [10 April, 1967], No. 16755/68. Headings B7A and B7S. A ship comprises a pair of parallel pontoons 1, a deck 7 having at one end two supports 9 for movably engaging in the respective pontoons, a cross-beam 4 at the end of the deck remote from the supports and movably mounted on the pontoons by supports 3, and an arm 6 extending longitudinally of the ship between the deck and cross beam. In the embodiment shown the deck 7 is provided with two columns 11 also engaging movably in the pontoons 1 and the pontoons can be raised or lowered in the water to facilitate loading and unloading of the deck. Several separate decks may be provided and the ship can sail from a harbour with a second deck as soon as the first deck has been deposited on. suitable supports and the second deck has been lifted.
