Abstract
1,176,579. Refrigerators. OWENS-CORNING FIBERGLAS CORP. 26 June, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 29367/67. Heading F4H. A wall for a cold storage room comprises a structural wall 20, a vapour barrier membrane 24, thermal insulation 28 secured to and located between studs 26, and internal washable plates 30 having open channels 43 communicating with the storage space to allow diffusion of moisture from the insulation to the space. As illustrated, the channels are open at both ends and a splash plate 54 is provided to prevent wash liquid splashing from the floor on to the insulation. In another embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the channelled plates extend to the floor and their joints with the floor are sealed, the tops of the channels remaining open to the storage space. The studs may be of wood or of porous fibre-glass strengthened by metal caps joined by plastics straps. The vapour barrier membrane may be of polyethylene sheet material and the insulation of fibrous material. The channelled sheets may be of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin. Preferred dimensions and characteristics of materials are disclosed.
