Abstract
1,048,687. Room units. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 21, 1964 [Jan. 2, 1964], No. 203/64. Heading E1A. A prefabricated synthetic thermoplastic polymeric room unit, as shown a bathroom unit 1, is formed in two parts, and surrounded by a framework, one side at least of which is formed as a stressed skin structure. The walls and ceiling of the bathroom unit are coated with a layer of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin, and the base is stuck to a base sheet 7 of plywood forming part of the framework, which sheet may be apertured as at 13 for ventilation, heating, &c. The stressed skin construction may be employed on one, two or four walls, and on the base also, if required. As shown, there is a latticework of timber battens 8, covered with plywood sheets 10. Alternatively the facing sheets, which may also be of aluminium or a thermoplastic material, may cover a paper or like honeycomb core, or a foamed polymeric core.
