Abstract
1,174,668. Bushing insulator. ALSTHOMSAVOISIENNE. 6 Dec., 1967 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 55567/67. Heading H2C. [Also in Division H1] An electrical connection between the inside of a cryotransformer tank 1 and a terminal head comprises a hollow conductor 3 surrounded by an insulating unit 6 and an external insulator 9, with evacuable enclosures between the conductor and insulation 6, and (at 11) between this insulation and the external insulator. Enclosure 11 is sealed by a flexible stainless steel cylinder 8. Cryogenic fluid flows through the conductor to a variable volume tank 4 and thence to external apparatus through a coil 14 in a compartment 13 which contains heated mineral oil to prevent frosting of the external insulator.
