Abstract

1,173,273. Releasable fastenings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 4 Jan., 1967 [13 Jan., 1966], No. 1678/66. Heading E2A. [Also in Division G5] A latch comprises a bifurcated bolt 8 pivotally and slidably mounted on a pin 9 and pivoted at 12 to an arm 13 on a shaft 14 also carrying a plate 15 to which is connected a spring 16 with an over-centre action as the bolt is actuated by a keeper lug 4 on a member to be fastened so that the final fastening movement is effected by the spring. As shown, two latches, having their plates 15 interconnected by a link 17 so as to operate together, cooperate with two keeper lugs 4 on a tape cassette 2 to retain the cassette, which is guided by pins 3, in transcribing equipment 1. In the latching position of each bolt the pivot 12 between the bolt 8 and the arm 13 is aligned with the shaft 14 and pin 9 so that the bolt 8 will not respond to a straight pull on it. Release is effected by a push-button 24 which rocks the lower plate 15 over centre.
