A machine tool for use with pre-set cutting tools wherein locating means is provided on the tool body 12 and which comprises a face 16 in or on which is formed a dovetail portion 18 having an adjustable stop 24 within a slot 22, the face 16, stop 24 and one of the inclined surfaces of the dovetail constituting reference surfaces with respect to which the cutting tool is set up. The relationship between these surfaces and their abutment with corresponding surfaces on the machine tool, which are precisely positioned with respect to three mutually perpendicular planes on the machine tool, the cutting tool assumes a precisely predetermined position on the machine tool. A suitable mounting member for the machine tool is described with reference to Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) and on to which the above-described pre-set tool is secured.
