Abstract

1,165,628. Milling machines. MISAL MACCHINE INDUSTRIALI S.A.S. LETO. 29 Aug 1967 [29 Sept., 1966], No. 39416/67. Heading B3K. A milling machine has a turret head comprising two parts, the first part being angularly adjustable about a horizontal main axis X-X and carrying a plurality of cutter spindles e.g. 7, 8, 9 which lie offset from and perpendicular to the axis X-X, the second part having a further spindle e.g. 11, which lies in a plane parallel to the axis X-X, the second part with its spindle being angularly adjustable about an axis Y-Y perpendicular to the axis XX. Drive to the spindles 7, 8, 9 and/or 11 is taken from a common drive shaft 16, a sliding clutch member 19 serving to connect the drive to either or both of gears 21, 20 which are respectively connected to drive spindle 11 and spindles 7, 8, 9. Spindles 7, 8, 9 can be severally adjusted in axial direction. A worm and wormwheel 3a, 3b serves to adjust the housing parts 3, 4, 6 of the first part angularly about the axis XX, an angular scale, not shown, on flange part 4 indicating the precise angular position attained. A similar scale 36 indicates the angular position of the housing 10 of the said second part. Both parts can be locked in adjusted position by locking bolts engageable in circular T-slots 5, 6a.
